What exactly is Pilates?
Pilates is a non-impact, deep muscle conditioning method that strengthens, stretches and balances the entire body. It specifically targets the "powerhouse" muscle groups - the abdominals and back - correcting alignment and enabling the body to move more efficiently.

What is the difference between yoga and Pilates?
Some say the difference can be as simple as that of the East and West. While both systems build strength and flexibility, Pilates focuses more on the physical benefits, "core strength" and stabilization, while yoga focuses more on the spiritual benefits and energy flow. Each has their individual benefits and can also work well together.

What should I expect during my session?
After a brief consultation, you will begin your individualized session which will consist of Pilates mat work, apparatus work, and stretching - specifically designed with your needs in mind.

What should I wear to my session?
We request that you come in comfortable clothing that will not restrict your movement. Most of our clients feel more comfortable on the apparatus without socks, but the choice is yours.

How long does my session last?
Each session is 55 minutes in length. Your first session will start with an Introduction where the instructor will address any concerns/questions you may have. The instructor can then begin developing your personalized program.

Can everyone regardless of fitness levels and backgrounds do Pilates?
YES! Because Pilates uses resistance from springs and your own body weight, it is extremely easy on the joints and muscles. Clients of all ages can enjoy this form of exercise including pregnant women and seniors. If you have a serious medical condition, please seek the advice of your doctor before beginning any exercise program.

When can I expect to see the results in my body?
After the first session, you should expect to experience heightened postural awareness and feel more flexible as your body begins to adapt to the system. Each session will further the benefits and shape of your body. If you are coming once a week, or less, we recommend that you supplement with a home program which we would be happy to advise you on.
